For our first big vacation post-lockdown, I want to splash out, but my husband wants to do everything on the cheap

Dear Wayne and Wanda, My husband and I finally are scheduling a vacation again and agreed our first big trip after the last year should be Hawaii. I was so excited to plan something fun and Hawaii is a favorite spot for both. We have something of a routine we stay in the same hotel, typically have a luau night, a snorkeling trip, probably one or two really great dinners, and he loves golfing. We didn’t have to ask for millions of dollars in supplemental funds, or figure out which cuts would hurt kids the least. ASD is asked to educate large numbers of children who are fundamentally under-prepared to enter the K-12 system, who enter school with high rates of poverty, language deficiencies, adverse childhood experiences, and/or need IEPs. ASD has not yet funded evidence-based pupil to teacher ratios, and is unable to p

Anchorage mayor candidate Q&A: Jeffrey Brown

1. Why are you running for mayor? I believe politics and this mayoral race is dominated by hyperpartisanship. I represent the majority of citizens, not just a clone of past conservative or liberal mayors that continue to steer our city to one extreme or the other for the purposes of their small donor base. My family has a long history of service through elected office and political activities. It is one of the ways that we have chosen to give back to the community, by offering our time and service in the interests of the vast majority of citizens. I will not pander to interests for money or power. I am a man of the people. That is a promise.
